The first thing we’re asked about our company is the name - DēsL. Where did that come from?! DēsL is a homage to our owner's college roots. Bryan attended The University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from the College of Fine Arts Design Division with a BFA in Design. Within that program, which is small due to limited student acceptance, is the division’s private computer lab. That lab is affectionately called The DēsL, which stands for design lab. We’ve dropped the “design lab” part, and kept DēsL. It’s catchy, works well in a logo, and connotates many different visuals depending on who you talk to. Some have said it makes them think of diesel fuel. Others say they think of the clothing and shoe brand Diesel. To us, while it still says design lab, we also think of it more abstractly. DēsL carries a sense of creation and motion - and that’s what we emulate in our creative process.
As for the company itself, DēsL is the realization of a goal Bryan has had since high school; to own his own design agency. For Bryan, graphic design, advertising and marketing is everything wanted in a career; the combination of artistic creation, communication, and logical process. And owning his own agency allows him the ability to emphasize the values and company structure that he believes best serve his agency's clientele.
Fast forward through time, and here we are. We strive to push our own limits as far as we can take them, all the while maintaining the same level of client service that we would expect to receive. And at the heart of it all is our passion for what we do, and our primary goal of keeping the human connection alive. After all, DēsL provides a service to people, for people - and that will always be the most important aspect of our agency.
